KYC and Verification

Why We Verify Your Identity

At Spinko, maintaining a secure, fair, and responsible gaming environment is paramount. We are legally obligated to verify the identity of our players. This process, known as Know Your Customer or KYC, is a fundamental requirement imposed by our licensing authority and international anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. Identity verification protects you, our other players, and Spinko from fraud, underage gambling, and financial crime. By confirming your identity, we ensure that funds are handled legitimately, payouts reach the correct individual, and we comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

What KYC (Know Your Customer) Means

KYC, or Know Your Customer, refers to the mandatory process of identifying and verifying the identity of clients when opening accounts and periodically thereafter. It involves collecting and assessing personal information and documentation from our players. For Spinko, this means we gather details like your full legal name, date of birth, residential address, and sometimes occupation and source of funds. This information is crucial for confirming that you are who you claim to be and that your activities on our platform are legitimate. Our KYC procedures are designed to meet the strictest regulatory standards, ensuring Spinko operates with integrity and transparency.

When Verification Is Required

Identity verification is a continuous process that can be triggered at various stages of your interaction with Spinko. Typically, you will be asked to complete verification:

  • Upon Registration: While you may be able to register and make an initial deposit, full account verification is often required shortly after to enable withdrawals.
  • Before Your First Withdrawal: To comply with AML regulations and ensure funds are paid to the rightful owner, we generally require full verification before processing your first withdrawal request.
  • When Reaching Specific Thresholds: Our licensing authority mandates verification when cumulative deposits or withdrawals reach certain monetary limits.
  • Following Account Activity Reviews: If our security team identifies unusual or suspicious activity on your account, we may request additional verification to protect your account and comply with our obligations.
  • Periodic Reviews: We conduct periodic reviews of customer information to ensure it remains accurate and up-to-date, especially for long-term players.
  • Changes to Account Information: If you update key personal details, we may need to re-verify your identity.

Documents You May Be Asked to Provide

To complete the verification process, Spinko typically requests specific documents. The exact documents required can vary based on your jurisdiction, the information we already hold, and the nature of the verification trigger. However, the general categories of documents include:

  • Proof of Identity
  • Proof of Address
  • Proof of Payment Method
  • Source of Funds/Wealth documentation (in specific cases)

All submitted documents must be clear, legible, and show all four corners. They should not be expired or altered in any way. We recommend using high-quality scans or photographs.

Proof of Identity

For proof of identity, we require a government-issued photographic identification document. This document must clearly display your full legal name, date of birth, a photograph, and an expiry date that has not passed. Acceptable forms of proof of identity include:

  • Passport: A copy of the photo page.
  • National Identity Card: Copies of both the front and back.
  • Driving Licence: Copies of both the front and back (must be a full, not provisional, licence).

The name on your identification document must precisely match the name registered on your Spinko account.

Proof of Address

To verify your residential address, we require a document issued within the last three months (unless otherwise specified) that clearly shows your full name and current residential address. The name and address on this document must match the details registered on your Spinko account. Acceptable forms of proof of address include:

  • Utility bill (e.g., electricity, gas, water, internet, landline telephone bill, but NOT mobile phone bills).
  • Bank statement or credit card statement.
  • Government-issued tax document.
  • Official letter from a recognised public authority.

Please ensure the document is dated and shows the service provider's logo or letterhead. Screenshots of online statements are usually acceptable if they contain all necessary information.

Payment Method Verification

To prevent fraud and ensure that funds are deposited and withdrawn legitimately, we may also require verification of the payment methods used on your Spinko account. This helps confirm that you are the rightful owner of the payment instrument. The specific requirements depend on the payment method:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: We may ask for a copy of the front and back of the card. For security, please obscure the middle six digits of the card number on the front and the CVV/CVC code on the back. Your name, the first six and last four digits of the card number, and the expiry date must be clearly visible.
  • E-Wallets (e.g., Skrill, Neteller, PayPal): A screenshot of your e-wallet account page showing your name, email address, and account ID.
  • Bank Transfers: A copy of a bank statement showing your name, bank account number, and recent transactions to or from Spinko.

The name on the payment method must always match the name registered on your Spinko account.

Source of Funds and Enhanced Due Diligence

In certain situations, particularly when large transactions or cumulative deposits/withdrawals occur, or if there are other risk factors, Spinko is legally required to conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD). As part of EDD, we may request documentation to verify your Source of Funds (SOF) or Source of Wealth (SOW). This is a crucial step in our anti-money laundering efforts. Examples of documents that may be requested include:

  • Payslips or employment contracts.
  • Bank statements showing salary deposits.
  • Tax returns.
  • Proof of inheritance.
  • Sale of property documentation.
  • Business ownership documents.

We understand that providing such sensitive information can be a concern, but it is a legal obligation for Spinko. All information is treated with the utmost confidentiality and stored securely in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

The Verification Process and Timeframes

Once you submit your documents, our dedicated verification team will review them. We strive to process all verification requests as quickly as possible. The standard timeframe for document review is typically within 24 to 48 hours. However, during peak periods or if additional information or clarification is needed, it may take longer. You will be notified via email or through your Spinko account messaging system about the status of your verification. If any documents are unclear or insufficient, we will contact you to request new or additional information.

Keeping Your Documents Safe

Spinko takes the security and privacy of your personal information and documents very seriously. We employ advanced security measures, including encryption and secure servers, to protect all data you submit. Your documents are stored in compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations. Access to your personal data is strictly limited to authorised personnel who require it to perform their duties. We will never share your documents with third parties unless legally required to do so by our licensing authority or other regulatory bodies. For more details, please refer to our comprehensive Privacy Policy.

Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

Spinko is committed to preventing money laundering and terrorist financing. Our KYC and verification procedures are a core component of our robust Anti-Money Laundering (AML) framework. We adhere strictly to the AML laws and regulations of our operating jurisdiction and international standards. This includes monitoring transactions, reporting suspicious activities to the relevant authorities, and conducting ongoing due diligence on customer accounts. By verifying your identity and understanding the source of your funds, Spinko actively contributes to combating financial crime and maintaining the integrity of the financial system.

Age Verification and Protecting Minors

Underage gambling is strictly prohibited. Spinko is legally bound to ensure that all players are 18 years of age or older (or the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction, if higher). Our age verification process is an integral part of our KYC procedures. Any attempt by a minor to register or gamble on Spinko will result in immediate account closure and forfeiture of any winnings. We may use third-party age verification services to cross-reference the information you provide. This commitment to protecting minors is non-negotiable and reflects our dedication to responsible gaming.

If Verification Is Delayed or Unsuccessful

While we aim for a smooth and quick verification process, delays can sometimes occur. This might be due to unclear documents, discrepancies in the information provided, or high volumes of requests. If your verification is delayed, please check your email and Spinko account messages for any requests for further information. If verification is ultimately unsuccessful, for example, if we cannot confirm your identity or if there are concerns regarding the legitimacy of your account or funds, your account may be suspended or closed. In such cases, any remaining balance may be subject to review and potential forfeiture, depending on the specific circumstances and regulatory requirements. We will always communicate the reasons for such decisions, where legally permissible.
