KYC and Verification

Why We Verify Your Identity

At Spinko, maintaining a secure, fair, and responsible gaming environment is paramount. Identity verification, often referred to as Know Your Customer (KYC), is a fundamental part of our commitment to these principles. We verify your identity to comply with stringent regulatory requirements imposed by our licensing authority. This process helps us prevent fraud, money laundering, and underage gambling, ensuring that Spinko remains a safe and trustworthy platform for all our players. By confirming your identity, we protect both you and our operations from illicit activities, fostering a transparent and accountable gaming community.

What KYC (Know Your Customer) Means

KYC, or Know Your Customer, refers to the mandatory process of identifying and verifying the identity of our customers. This involves collecting and reviewing specific personal documentation. The aim is to confirm that you are who you say you are, that you are of legal gambling age, and that the funds you use are legitimate. This is a standard practice across regulated financial services and online gaming industries worldwide. Spinko undertakes KYC procedures to adhere to anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) legislation, as well as to uphold our social responsibility commitments.

When Verification Is Required

Identity verification at Spinko can be triggered at several points during your interaction with our platform. While we may conduct initial checks upon registration, full verification is typically required before your first withdrawal. However, we reserve the right to request verification at any time, including:

  • Upon reaching specific deposit or withdrawal thresholds.
  • If there are any inconsistencies or suspicions regarding your account activity.
  • If your personal details change or require updating.
  • Periodically, as part of our ongoing due diligence obligations.
  • If we suspect multiple accounts are being operated by the same individual.

Prompt cooperation with these requests helps ensure uninterrupted access to Spinko's services.

Documents You May Be Asked to Provide

To complete our verification process, you may be asked to provide various documents. These typically fall into categories such as proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of ownership for payment methods. All submitted documents must be clear, legible, and valid, meaning they are not expired or defaced. We may require colour copies of documents to ensure authenticity. Please ensure that all four corners of the document are visible in the image you provide.

Proof of Identity

To confirm your identity, we generally require a copy of one of the following official government-issued photo identification documents:

  • Passport: A full colour copy of the photo page.
  • National Identity Card: A full colour copy of both the front and back of the card.
  • Driving Licence: A full colour copy of both the front and back of the licence.

The document must clearly show your full name, date of birth, photograph, signature, and the document's expiry date. The name on the identification document must match the name registered on your Spinko account.

Proof of Address

To verify your residential address, we typically require a recent document, issued within the last three months, showing your full name and current residential address. Acceptable documents include:

  • Utility bill (e.g., electricity, water, gas, internet, landline phone bill). Mobile phone bills are generally not accepted.
  • Bank statement or credit card statement.
  • Government-issued correspondence (e.g., tax statement, social security statement).

The document must be clearly dated and show your name and address matching the details registered on your Spinko account. We cannot accept documents that are more than three months old.

Payment Method Verification

To ensure the security of financial transactions and prevent fraud, we also require verification of the payment methods used on your Spinko account. The specific documents needed will depend on the payment method:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: A copy of the front and back of the card. For security, please obscure the middle eight digits of the card number on the front and the CVV/CVC code on the back. The name on the card must match your Spinko account name.
  • E-Wallets (e.g., Skrill, Neteller, PayPal): A screenshot of your e-wallet account profile page clearly showing your name, email address, and account ID. This screenshot should be taken from within your e-wallet account.
  • Bank Transfers: A copy of a bank statement or an online banking screenshot showing your name, account number, and the bank's logo. Transaction details can be redacted if sensitive.

This process confirms that you are the legitimate owner of the funds used for deposits and withdrawals.

Source of Funds and Enhanced Due Diligence

In certain circumstances, particularly when transactions involve significant amounts, or if there are concerns regarding the origin of funds, Spinko may be legally obligated to request information and documentation pertaining to your Source of Funds (SOF) or Source of Wealth (SOW). This is part of our Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) procedures and is a crucial aspect of our AML compliance. Examples of documents that may be requested include:

  • Payslips or employment contracts.
  • Bank statements showing accumulated savings.
  • Documents related to property sales or inheritance.
  • Business ownership documentation.

We understand that such requests are highly sensitive. All information provided will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and used solely for compliance purposes as required by law.

The Verification Process and Timeframes

Once you submit your documents, our dedicated verification team at Spinko will review them. We aim to process all verification requests as quickly as possible. Typically, the initial review takes between 24 to 72 hours. However, this timeframe can vary depending on the clarity and completeness of the documents provided, the volume of requests, and whether further information or clarification is needed. You will be notified via your registered email address about the status of your verification. During peak times, or if additional checks are required, the process may take longer. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Keeping Your Documents Safe

Spinko is committed to protecting your personal data. All documents and information you provide for verification purposes are handled with strict confidentiality and stored securely in accordance with our Privacy Policy and relevant data protection regulations, including GDPR. We employ advanced encryption technologies and robust security protocols to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of your personal information. Your documents are only accessible to authorised personnel who require them to perform their duties related to KYC and AML compliance. We do not share your verification documents with third parties unless legally required to do so by regulatory authorities.

Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

As a regulated online gambling operator, Spinko is legally bound to comply with strict Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) laws and regulations. Our KYC procedures are a cornerstone of this compliance framework. We are vigilant in identifying and reporting suspicious transactions to the relevant authorities. This commitment helps us prevent our platform from being used for illegal activities such as money laundering, which could undermine the integrity of the financial system and harm legitimate players. By verifying your identity and monitoring transactions, Spinko contributes to a safer and more ethical online gaming environment for everyone.

Age Verification and Protecting Minors

Underage gambling is strictly prohibited at Spinko. A critical component of our verification process is ensuring that all our players are at least 18 years of age, or the legal gambling age in their jurisdiction, whichever is higher. Our age verification checks are robust and are applied to every new registration. If we discover that an account has been opened by a minor, the account will be immediately closed, any winnings will be forfeited, and the original deposits may be returned, depending on the circumstances and regulatory requirements. We are committed to protecting minors and promoting responsible gaming practices.

If Verification Is Delayed or Unsuccessful

Should your verification process encounter delays or be unsuccessful, our customer support team will contact you. Common reasons for delays or failure include unclear documents, expired identification, discrepancies between registered details and document information, or missing required documentation. We will clearly communicate what additional information or steps are needed to complete the process. Failure to provide the requested documents or information within a reasonable timeframe may result in restrictions being placed on your account, such as inability to deposit, withdraw, or play. In extreme cases, your Spinko account may be suspended or closed. We encourage you to respond promptly to any requests from our verification team.
